a) What are cookies and web bugs and what are they used for?

According to Wikipedia, the definition of a cookie would be:
A cookie (also known as web cookie or browser cookie) is a small piece of data sent from a website and stored in a user’s web browser while the user is browsing that website.

A cookie is a file that is downloaded to the user’s device when he or she accesses certain websites to store and recover information about what has been browsed from that equipment.
With the evolution of websites, cookies have practically become essential in order to offer users all kinds of services, such as the possibility of registering on the website, personalising or configuring the site to the user’s taste, managing shopping carts, etc.
Browsing without cookies is perfectly possible, but many of these new services will stop being available without them.
Web bugs are also used at Zumex. These are tiny and transparent images inserted into some contents. When users access this content, this image is downloaded, thus making it possible to know the number of times that this content has been seen, as well as the IP address from which it has been downloaded. This information is compiled anonymously and is used to compile statistical data about certain areas of the website.

b) What are the cookies used for at Zumex?

The cookies that we use never provide personal data and the user always remains anonymous.
The browser can be configured so that it does not accept the use of cookies, although, in that case, some of the site services would not work. However, the content can be accessed and it is possible to browse the website without major problems.

c) Types, purpose and operation of Cookies at Zumex?

In general, you can classify cookies in two ways, according to their permanence or their purpose.
According to their permanence, there are two types of cookies:

PERFORMANCE COOKIES:

This type of cookies allows us to customize the browsing experience by storing website configuration or display options, so that the same wouldn’t have to be selected at each visit. Some examples of this type of cookies would be those used for:

• - Products stored in the "shopping cart" provided by E-commerce Services, such as stores.

GEOLOCATION COOKIES:

Log cookies are generated when a user registers on a website or service or when, if access data are previously provided, it registers on such website or service and different sections of the website can be accessed without having to enter its credentials on each page. In summary, these cookies allow keeping the user identified so that it may access certain services, such as:

• - Keeping the user identified so that if it logs off from the service, the browser or the computer and accesses such service again at another time or another day, it would be still identified, thus facilitating its navigation without having to identify itself again.
• - Checking if the user is authorized to access certain services, for example, to participate in a forum, comment or access restricted areas of the website.

This cookie can be deleted using the "log off" button so that the next time the user registers from that device, it must enter its credentials again so as to enjoy the related privileges.
This type of functionality can be also used via third-party cookies, such as the social media, i.e. Twitter or Facebook, so that the user may be identified for these services on the website based on its cookies.

ANALYTICS COOKIES:

This type of cookies is usually generated by an external provider (such as Google Analytics, Comscore, Netscope, etc.) and its purpose is to basically identify the user in an anonymous manner so that the user’s behavior patterns may be analyzed while it browses on the website.
The first time the user accesses the website, a cookie is generated for the purpose of identifying the user in future visits, always anonymously, and of obtaining statistical data such as:

• - The number of "different users" that access the website in a certain period of time.
• - Anonymous identification of the most visited and, therefore, most attractive contents.

• - Knowing the number of pages that each user reads on average.

Social media
The corporate profiles of ZUMEX (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin) are used to carry out promotional campaigns in which tracking pixels are used to measure the conversions. This code allows to track the IP of any visit on the page that we are interested in tracking.

Mailchimp
All MailChimp forms, regardless of the opt-in method, collect the email address, IP address and timestamp associated with all those who submit the form.
Including your email address in the forms found on our website will entail the transfer of your contact information to MailChimp, the storage of your contact information in the ZUMEX MailChimp account and the sending of marketing emails from the MailChimp account of ZUMEX.
